Bulk loader for dry bulk goods

The Louis Hagel complex does not have a quay wall. Thanks to an innovation we have been able to transform this disadvantage into a competitive advantage: Our loader is not fixed in the water but situated on a specially constructed pontoon, where it can be moved over a length of 104 m.

The loader is connected to the conveyor belts on land via a telescopic tube with a movable link, which is able to compensate for tidal differences of up to 8.50 m above sea level. As a result, the loader is – unlike a system on a quay – always on the same level as a seagoing vessel. This enables the loading of ships with a freeboard height of up to 14 m, regardless of the tide.

The water depth is always 11m above sea level for seagoing vessels. This enables the loading of seagoing vessels with a width of 25 m and loading tonnage of approx. 30,000 t. Of course, inland navigation vessels or barges at the facility can also be loaded in a short amount of time.

We are prepared for the worst-case scenario: If a drive motor of our conveyor belt system fails, we have all the different motor types in stock to make the system operational in just a few hours.
